Michael Young is a dental graduate. After 10 years in practice he studied for

a Master of Science at the University of London. He then divided his time
between practice, teaching and working as an independent dental expert witness.
He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in classics and history.
During his dental career Michael was also a manager. He was a member of
the Chartered Institute of Management, the Chartered Institute of Marketing,
and was the secretary of the North East Region Committee of the Institute
of Management Consultancy. His dental practice was one of the first in
the United Kingdom to be awarded the British Dental Association’s ‘Good
Practice’. He was also an assessor for the Good Practice scheme.
Over the years he has been a regular contributor to many UK and overseas
dental journals and magazines, writing about various aspects of practice
management and marketing. A collection of his dental articles (Amalgam) is
available on Amazon Kindle.
After 20 years of managing his own practice he retired from clinical dentistry.
He continued working for a few years as an expert witness but is now
a full-time author.
He is the author of the international best-selling, Diagram Prize–winning,
'Managing a Dental Practice the Genghis Khan Way', and he co-wrote 'Developing
Your Dental Team’s Management Skills the Genghis Khan Way' with his wife, Linda.
Radcliffe Publishing published both these books.
Michael contributed a chapter to Messages from Dental Masters 2: How to Enjoy
and Thrive in Your Dental Career (published and sold through SNH Publications).
As an amateur archaeologist, he wrote an article titled ‘What’s Behind a
Smile’ and published in Yorkshire Archaeology Today.
He has mentored several novice experts – in particular, helping them improve their writing skills and the quality of their reports.
Michael has written three works of fiction: a play titled Haunted, a short
story titled One Week in Berlin, and one piece of flash fiction, Old Friends, under
