Presiones familiares y sociales lo mantuvieron allí durante varios años hasta que su personal «noche oscura del alma» le impulsó a dejarlo todo atrás para buscar vivir una vida con más sentido. Sus exploraciones con el tiempo le llevarían al Camino de Santiago, donde providencialmente conocería a su actual esposa, Mony Dojeiji, y juntos se embarcarían en una marcha de 5000 kilómetros a pie por la Paz en la que atravesarían 13 países, durante 13 meses.
