In a perfect show of irony, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. I endured six major surgeries, four minor procedures, seventeen hyperbaric oxygen tank treatments, a systemic drug reaction, PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and other mishaps over the course of eighteen months.
I wrote the book “Radical Journey” so every woman would feel empowered to take control of her physical and emotional well being when going through breast cancer or prophylactic mastectomy. The information available to prepare women is vague and frankly, too clinical. This lack of personal dialog can be intimidating to patients and is feeding a fear that prevents women from considering prophylactic mastectomy. If you are high risk or, like me, are showing signs that indeed trouble is brewing, mastectomy can save your life. To know all that I went through and survived, women will be more confident considering this option.
My other purpose for writing “Radical Journey” is the challenge cancer patients face in finding quality and affordable treatment. I, like thousands of people everyday, was the innocent bystander of America’s failing health care system. Health care is a basic necessity. Corporate greed and political corruption is turning it into the equivalent of a fast food drive-thru, quick, dirty, sloppy, and the workers are overworked and underpaid. I hope to open the eyes of the apathetic and motivate them to vote, responsibly.lihat lebih sedikit
