Professor Marquardt received his Ph.d. from the University of Illinois, Urbana in 1954. He was a member of the Center of Zoonoses Research at the Unversity of Illinois from 1962-66 and Associate Director of the Arthropod-Borne and Infectious Diseases Laboratory at Colorado State University from 1987 to 1995.
