She lived and worked on Long Island most of her life until she retired early. After high school, she attended college in New York, majoring in Early Childhood K-6 education and Home Economics. Upon graduation, she taught in a public school on Long Island. After teaching for a few years, Eileen obtained two master’s degrees: M.A. in counseling and M.S. in psychology. She enjoyed learning psychology and wanted to expand her knowledge; she acquired a Ph.D. in counseling psychology. While going through the Ph.D. program, Eileen taught psychology classes to college students and had a small private practice.
