Since then he has become embroiled in an academic ménage à trois with Shakespeare and Dickens, presenting papers at conferences on both writers, as well as publishing articles and books. He is the general editor of Divining Thoughts: Future Directions in Shakespeare Studies and has edited three collections of Dickens’ writings for Hesperus Press, On Travel (2009), On London (2010) and On Theatre (2011).
