He has served as a street patrol officer, undercover narcotics officer, police chief, and deputy sheriff. He has received several commendations in his career. He received the Life Saving Commendation from the Oklahoma Chiefs of Police Association, being the first Police Chief to receive the honor. He received a citation for bravery by Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating. He received a citation for Bravery by the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He received a commendation for his actions in a hostage situation where four fellow law enforcement officers were shot. He also was awarded Deputy of the Year. Neal Locke was involved in a shooting where he had to shoot an armed suspect that was attempting to shoot other officers while on a call. Neal Locke was honored to speak before two classes of graduating police officers, their family, and friends as they became fully sworn police officers in the State of Oklahoma.
