He spent part of his childhood on a dairy farm and graduated from Iowa Grant High School near Livingston, Wisconsin. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. His MBA degree was conferred from the University of Wisconsin – LaCrosse.
He spent most of his professional career in the corporate world and has travelled the United States extensively.
