Her love of writing was developed when she took a Creative Writing Class at a local community college. She was a 1946 graduate of Hayward Union High School. She and her classmates created a quarterly newsletter that eventually included all the Hayward High Classes of the 1940s. She has been editor for the sixteen years of its existence.
