I was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and was adopted at the age of five with my brother and sister. I lived there until I was six, then moved to Long Island. I lived there until I was six, then moved to Long Island. Shortly after, my family moved to Simsbury, Connecticut.
I attended Plymouth State University (although at the time it was Plymouth State College) and studied both English and Spanish. After spending a semester in Seville, Spain, I decided my talents were with English Literature. In 1998, I graduated with a bachelor's degree in English Literature.
