I have wondered about that all my life, which began September 3, 1929 in Escanaba, Michigan. I believe I have an average I.Q. and I can read and reason things out. I don’t claim any special abilities that aren’t possessed by every normal person. My formal education ended in the tenth grade but I have a high school diploma by virtue of a G.E.D. test I took in the military.
When I was a child I wondered about such things as where we come from, why are we here, where do we go after death, is there a creator God and if so does He reveal Himself to us, and if so how? Is the Bible really His inspired revelation to us? Is evolution true as an alternative to creation or did God create evolution and then leave it to run its course?
I was taught by my relatives and society that evolution is true and the Bible is merely the result of ignorant men trying to explain things they did not understand and is therefore filled with superstitions, distorted history, exaggerations and other false information. In my early twenties I read a book—There is a River by Thomas Sugrue—that started me in a completely different direction.
I have shared my conclusions with others including church members, preachers, scholars and unbelievers and have discovered no one agrees with me. Not only do they all disagree with me but they also disagree with each other as well as the Bible—in my humble opinion. So I have incorporated what I believe agrees with Scripture and rejected the rest. But even though I believe what I believe is true I also believe I could be wrong and I continue to seek and study.lihat lebih sedikit
