She started her writing career as a travel writer and still works in that field. She had also written three novels and a number of non-fiction works. She specializes in writing history. Her novels fictionalize the period 1837-1842 in early New Zealand, the exploits of New Zealanders in the South African war 1899-1902 and a New Zealand artist in Europe in the period immediately after World War I. Her non-fiction works include histories of the fishing and aquaculture industry and the road transport industry as well as other aspects of New Zealand history. Her most successful non-fiction work was on the commissioned war artists in World War II and she is now writing a study of the impact of World War I on New Zealand artists.lihat lebih sedikit
