She says: "I've been writing and thinking up stories since I was very young, and I started writing vampire fiction when I was fourteen- though I never thought to make any real effort to get anything published until recently. I once tried to describe to a friend what it was like to create a story from nothing: I said that, in my case and with Blood Omen in particular, I felt like the story was already complete in my head, but that there was a wall between me and it, and every day that I sat down at the computer and started to type, a little bit of that wall got chipped away and more and more details of the story and characters got revealed.
