He worked as a counselor and then began a career with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. He was assigned to the VA Medical Center, Detroit, where he graduated from the agency’s personal management training program and continued in HR as a staff recruiter and employee relations generalistTransferring to Milwaukee, he was assigned as a supervisory recruitment specialist. David was next promoted to assistant director of human resources at the agency’s medical center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Shortly after that, he was promoted to the position of Regional Human Resources Manager, Central Region, Ann Arbor, a corporate level office which oversaw medical centers in the entire Midwest.He then transferred to the VA Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota, as the Human Resources Manager and retired in 2005. David then became an instructor at Rasmussen College where he taught psychology and sociology for four years.An avid writer since 16 years old, he enjoyed elective college courses in creative writing, poetry, and drama. He has written over a dozen poems and the short stories “Stranger on the Beach” and “Blue Men.” After completing Particular Stones, he is currently finishing up his most recent novel, In the Big Flood. He also enjoys vegetable gardening, fishing, book discussion, geography, science, and philosophyIn 2011, David will be moving east to accompany his wife who is a college nursing instructor.
