Her first novel, Shhh, Grown Folks Is Talking, pays homage to the wisdom and guidance she received from her grandfather and grandmother. Jacquinita enjoys mathematics, science, and literature. She has taught various subjects in mathematics for more than twenty years. Her love of literature began at an early age with her first reading of Mildred D. Taylor's, Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry and Robert Frost's, The Road Not Taken.
