"The Boy and the Hidden Tunnel" is Wayne's first novel. Although all of the characters and events in the novel are fictional, many ideas in the novel are based on Wayne's own life experiences. He was in care as a child, had difficulty in school because of undiagnosed dyslexia, and was sent to a boarding school with a farm.
