He graduated from Allen County Scottsville High in 1979. Stephen went to Marine Corp boot camp at Parris Island, S.C. shortly after graduation and reached the rank of Sgt. Stephen transferred to the US Army in 1987 and volunteered for Special Forces in 1988. He served with the 5th Special Forces Group at Ft. Campbell, KY until he retired in 1995. Stephen became a police officer with the Scottsville Police Dept. in 1995 and transferred to the Allen County Sheriffs Dept. in 1999. Promoted to Detective in 2000 he served in general investigations and as a member of the Allen County Drug Task Force and the Kentucky State Police Drug Task Force. In 2008 Stephen began working as an advisor to the US Military in both Afghanistan and Iraq.
