She received a Derringer Award from the Short Mystery Fiction Society in 2010 for "'Twas the Night," which appeared in The Gift of Murder
Anita, a native Brooklynite, moved with her family to the Catskills in the mid-Seventies, and from there to New York's Hudson Valley. While in the Catskills, she worked as a freelance feature writer for a regional newspaper. There, too, she met the inspiring women who became the model for Hannah Fox's Women of Action in Damned If You Don't.
