He obtained B.A (Hons) in English literature from Dhaka University in 1962 and M.A in 1963. He got involved with the Islamic movement in 1960. He was the Nayeb-e-Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami since 2009. He was also a director of the Bangladesh Islamic Center. He wrote about 35 books on Islamic literature. Professor Nazir Ahmad visited many countries including USA, UK, Turkey, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and India.
