After working briefly in the nuclear industry, he retreated into the wilds and has spent much of the last twenty years living off the land in numerous countries in the sub-artic regions, including northern Canada, Siberia and Greenland. A passionate conservationist, he has studied the survival methods of indigenous peoples and their unique relationship with their environment and wildlife.
He still lives entirely off the grid, having no computer or mobile phone, and is often out of touch with the outside world for months at a time.
