His early influences began on a small farm in the Midwest and Miss Helen Lockner’s one room school house. It was there at age 10 he discovered a book on Euclidean geometry which has fascinated him ever since. In those early days Donald was most intrigued by the diagrams that the Greek mathematician Euclid used to guide his written principals of plane and solid geometry.
