He was a faculty member at University of Richmond, Randolph-Macon College and Shepherd College.
A native of Jefferson County, West Virginia, he spent most of his life in the Shenandoah Valley. He attended the Charles Town public schools and then went to Roanoke College, from which he graduated with an A.B. degree. His graduate work was completed at West Virginia University, where he received an M.A. and Ph.D. in history. In addition, he undertook postgraduate work at Columbia University.
He was married to the former Dean McKoin of Monroe, LA.
He died in Waynesboro City, Virginia in 1994 aged 82.lihat lebih sedikit
