His love for SF led to active participation in SF conventions in the 1970s, where he spoke to such authors of the Golden Age of Science Fiction as Damon Knight, Fred Pohl, and John W. Campbell, Jr. As a member of the Science Fiction Research Association, Krulik published literary essays on the works of Isaac Asimov, James Gunn, and Richard Matheson for scholarly publishing companies Frederick Ungar, Inc. and Greenwood Press.
After interviewing the renowned "New Wave" writer Roger Zelazny in 1982, Krulik completed a literary biography of Zelazny for Frederick Ungar Inc. in 1986 and a concordance of Zelazny's famous ten-volume fantasy series, The Chronicles of Amber, in The Complete Amber Sourcebook, published by Zelazny's own publisher, Avon Books, in 1996. Krulik's short story "HalfLife" was published in Shadows & Reflections: Stories from the Worlds of Roger Zelazny, a tribute anthology, edited by Warren Lapine and Trent Zelazny, and published by Positronic Publishing in 2017.
