As a child, she loved to perform, studying drama at Etobicoke School of the Arts in high school and earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Playwriting from Concordia University in Montreal. After graduating, she spent the rest of her twenties trying to find a sensible job that would enable her to do what she really wanted to do, which was write. She has had many jobs (not all of them sensible—she once worked as a magician's assistant) in restaurants, marketing, and set and prop construction. In her thirties, she realized she wasn't being sensible at all, only cowardly, and subsequently wrote a middle grade novel, SPARK'S AND CAMPBELL'S EMPORIUM OF INTERESTING GOODS PRESENTS: THE NOSE AND HIS PERFUME. THE NOSE AND HIS PERFUME has over 240,000 reads on Wattpad, where it is available to read for free. Currently, Emily works as a copywriter.
