second book. She started writing two years ago at the age of 12 and stopped for several months.
She then continued working on her project and finished a year later. She is currently in the eighth
grade and is in the Honor Roll. She is also involved in the Student Council. One of her goals in
life as she reaches adulthood is to continue writing. When she reaches her college years in the
future, she will take classes to strengthen her writing skills. She also has thoughts about joining
the Service as an adult. V. A. Cortez lives with her mother in a west suburb of Chicago, Illinois.
In addition to writing, V. A. Cortez enjoys reading, sketching, cross-stitching, puzzles and
