Jo Ford is a widely traveled author of four previous historical novels, Colophon, The Land Between Two Rivers, Sayyida, and Beloved of the Gods. As a modern traveler she has been to the places Prince Pedro plausibly journeyed five centuries ago. Born and bred in a hemisphere Pedro never knew existed, she has also traveled there extensively.
