He spent his early years in West Texas at Midland and San Angelo, he attended the University of Texas and Texas A&M University before going into the construction and ranch real estate business. He now resides at his ranch in central Texas at Lampasas, where he raises cattle and quarter horses with a side line of lost treasure hunting and historical research.
