His father, a touring musician at the time, provided for his family financially, as one of his sisters stepped in to fill the equally vital role of guardian/mother. Onyx would often cry out and ask his brothers and sisters for their mother's return…but they themselves, overcome with confusion and overwhelming emotions, could not offer an explanation that would stop the questions or pacify a child's longing for his mother.
Becoming introverted, Onyx eventually turned to poetry as a means of escape from his grim reality, but also found glimpses of his mother there. Words are powerful and transforming. They can provide light in the darkest of caves or cradle one to the arms of death…Onyx hopes for us to view poetry as a beautiful gift, which allows us to find ourselves and inspire others along the way.lihat lebih sedikit
