For most of his life he wasn't interested in writing and didn't think he had the ability until he had his own internet radio show where he wanted a story for a hallowe'en show. Checking on the web was disappointing so his wife, Sandra, suggested that he write a story himself. Leonard was happy with that and came up with other stories featuring his grandchildren's names.
