After being awarded his doctorate in 1997 from the University of Kent, he worked as a consultant to a number of private companies and governments in Canada. After gaining a practical insight into his field of study, John returned to teach political science at a number of local universities and colleges in 2007, teaching International Relations and Canadian Politics. John has presented at number of international conferences, and he has published work exploring Arctic Sovereignty issues.
