Born and raised in the town of El Paso, Texas, he had a unique opportunity to see the cause and effect of decisions made by families from all socioeconomic classes and cultures. He has always had a passion for people, and his interest in human nature was heightened by his undergraduate studies in English at Brigham Young University, where he met his wife, Marcela. They have enjoyed a happy marriage for over thirty years and have raised their six children—five of whom are now married.
