I was reared in a small town called McLaurin, Mississippi. My family did not have a lot money but I appreciated what my parents provided for my siblings and I. I would often go visit my friends who lived in nice homes and often wondered why my family did not have one. During these times, I always imagined owning a nice home, car and having a beautiful family. In 1992, as high school junior, I found out that I would be having a child and my dreams were in jeopardy. People were saying that I would not amount to anything due to my situation. After hearing these hurtful words, I was determined not to be a high school dropout. I knew that I had to work harder than the next person and I was ready for this challenge.
I do not remember one person talking to me about going to college, taxes, credit scores, investing, etc. so in my book, I give simple explanations on the importance of each of these topics. I give simple examples of how not having a college education or trade could affect your income over a lifetime. I give information on how to attend college for free and how to earn a high paying job after college. I explain the importance of seeking a career instead of a job.

It reminds and teaches us that success first starts in our mind and that if we follow these simple but practical steps, we will be successful.
