He graduated from Greensboro Senior High School at the age of fifteen. As captain and pilot of a B-17 bomber, he flew twenty-five combat missions over Germany. He received an engineering degree from North Carolina State and retired from Blue Bell, Inc. as a corporate vice-president.
He was happily married for forty-seven years to the mother of his seven children, which ended tragically when she died from lung cancer. He remarried in 2005 to a widow whom he met in a church program. They reside in Winnabow, North Carolina.
His poetic endeavors began in 2005, when he wrote a poem as a stewardship message for his church. This first poem became a hymn and is included in his book under the title, “I Have a Friend in Heaven!”lihat lebih sedikit
