He grew up in Texas, and his grandfather founded the first Lutheran church in San Antonio, Texas. His father worked two jobs so he could get an education. He currently lives in Stonebridge Ranch in McKinney, Texas, with his wife, Sharon, and two daughters, Kelsey and Christine.
