He experienced, as a child, the travelling to and fro between the south west of Ireland and
the south of England. He was educated whether in England or in his native Ireland in
Catholic schools ran by Nuns and Christian Brothers. He was later educated at Mount
Melleray College near Cappaquin in County Waterford with the guidance of Cistercian
