I was required to do a daily writing journal during the summer and turn it in to my English teacher at the start of the school year. Prior to this I hated English and writing. Writing essays was always hard for me. However, that summer changed everything. Our only requirement was to write every day for at least 5 minutes about anything. At first, I was not a fan of the assignment. Slowly, I got inspired. When I turned in my journal, I was afraid my teacher was going to hate it, but then I met with her. She told me I had a "unique voice" and had "quite a bit of talent" when I was inspired. She then encouraged me to become a creative writer and consider becoming a novel writer in the future. The rest was history. It is because of that experience I chose to become a writer, an author, a poet, and a storyteller.
