I have three amazing boys that light up my life on a daily basis. Missing a year of my son’s life was one of the hardest moments of my life. I have a close-knit family and friends and live a truly blessed life.Just like the main character in the book, I’m just an average guy who was put in an extraordinary situation when I found myself deployed to a combat zone. The events that happened deeply changed me as a person and gave me a unique perspective on life. My goal was to capture that experience in this book and hope to bring that perspective to people around the world. I’ve always had a passion for writing and it’s always been a life goal of mine to publish a book. The problem was that I was never sure of the topic until now.As I began to unpack and unwind from my deployment to Afghanistan, I found notebooks full of thoughts, ideas, and our stories from overseas. Then, I remember a conversation that I had with one of my Soldiers while we were on a mission one day. Just walking along talking about life and the war we found ourselves in, one of us said to the other that we should write a book about all of this. I said I would, although this takes the approach of a historical fiction, not an account of exactly what happened.I was fortunate to be overseas with an amazing group of Soldiers, who I will never forget. They've inspired me in so many ways. Our company was responsible for finding Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) so that the local Afghans and other Coalition Service Members could travel and do their missions safely. Our guys were great, which was evident by the multiple awards they received from the Army, but it takes perfection to stay safe while conducting this dangerous mission. This story is for them and for all those that were affected by September 11th and the war in Iraq and Afghanistan that followed.lihat lebih sedikit
