A member of the N'gambay ethnicity, he grew up in his homeland. Naimbai's father became a diplomat and his family relocated to Silver Spring, Maryland, in 2008. He attended Walsh University on an athletic scholarship where he obtained a degree in International Relations and Government and Foreign Affairs.
