Born into a literary family, he had his first poetry published when only 12. As a journalist he was sent to Cuba to cover the Spanish-American War and developed malaria, which would trouble him for the rest of his life. He was a world traveler and served with the British army in the First World War. His travel and military service informed his writings, but his more than thirty books of adventure stories and poetry display most often a direct and vital connection to the landscape and people of his beloved native Canada.lihat lebih sedikit
