I am a special education teacher, mother to two babies, and a survivor. Growing up, I was a homeless youth in rural Nevada and worked two jobs to get through High School. I married my boyfriend from out of High School, where I had my first son, Ezra, at twenty years old. I was frightened but pushed on to finish college, where I found my passion for being a teacher.However, I would become a single mother due to life’s many paths and obstacles. Yet, there is no disdain for my former husband, only respect for what we had. Although we did not work out, he introduced me to his culture, and I fell in love with it. This inspired me to make Rosie a Mexican-American. I used my observations and interviews with his family and him to make her more real.My job and my children have led me to be driven and empathetic. I want my books to show others not to give up on love or goals even in the face of obstacles, even ones that may be emotional/internal conflicts at times. Despite the pain of the hardships I have faced, I have had no regrets about facing them. Only struggle and pressure can mold you into the diamond you were meant to be. I want my readers to know they are not alone, and they will get through whatever hardship they may be facing.lihat lebih sedikit
