Growing up in a family of eight children, Debbie was the youngest and developed a true understanding of family dynamics. As a kid she loved being outside, playing sports, and being a tomboy.She always knew in her heart that her life path would lead her down a road to write a book about her experiences with mental illness and overcoming family tragedy. Her desire to make a difference, learn from experiences, and help other people is what motivated her to write the book Silent Voices.Debbie started a non-profit foundation called Silent Voices Foundation to help raise money for mental illness facilities, programs, and research. For more information:www.silentvoicesfoundation.org.Debbie received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology with minor in Criminal Law from the University of Northern Colorado and continued her education receiving certificates in Business Development, Project Management, Public Speaking/Leadership Training, and Crisis Intervention Training. She worked in the corporate world for 32 years doing project management in the oil and gas industry.Debbie and her husband live in the Denver area and they own and operate a company that provides home care for the elderly. She also hopes to continue participation in Crisis Intervention Training. Debbie still enjoys all the Colorado outdoor activities, such as hiking, camping, jeeping, mountain climbing, skiing, and snowshoeing.
