I wrote these poems while I was at my first assignment, the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, RI. Translating what I saw, heard, smelled, tasted, and felt into these poems helped me grow and laid the foundations for my Naval career. I had the idea to create this book with my Mom so that we could share my poetry and her art, some of the simple beauty in our lives that is all too often forgotten. The world has changed significantly since the year 2000, but remembering all that has been forgotten, all that has been good and even great, is what this book is about.
