As a poet, children's writer and artist, Katherine is inspired by what is happening in her personal life, and in the world more broadly. Although she had been writing all her life and has had several poems published, Katherine took the opportunity to hone her skills as a creative writer with a Bachelor of Writing at the University of Canberra.
