She attended Catholic High and obtained degrees from Villa Julie College and Morgan State University. She accomplished her lifelong dream of becoming a lawyer at the age of 48, graduating from John Marshall Law School in Chicago. She practiced family law in Woodstock, Illinois for more than twenty years-opening her own practice on the Woodstock Square in 1996. She was a passionate advocate for children during custody battles. Dona and her husband of more than forty-five years, Larry Lowrimore, renovated Villa Torquato, a magnificent 16th century home in Tuscany with stunning views, and their olive oil is cherished annually by friends in Italy and America.
