She had a long career as a teacher and she gave it up to travel interstate and overseas each year to visit her children and seven grandchildren, to ramble with friends over long and winding tracks and to spend time in India with husband, Ikram. When away, Jane took photographs and wrote notes - and on returning home she fictionalised many real-life experiences into stories.
