It was here that she nursed her husband through his final illness and steered her family and friends through the insecurity of grief. Her new home has become a stepping stone to Paradise; a place of reflection on life amidst the beauty and tranquility of the Welsh hills.As a devoted wife she supported Mervyn as Lord-Lieutenant for many years, and in his many other interests. Immediately after his death she fulfilled her role as High Sheriff of Powys. Yet with all her public duties she always had the care and interests of her children and grandchildren at heart.
