This knowledge, plus an awareness of my inner ability to communicate complex ideas and events, provides me with a sound foundation to create stories with substance and life-learning situations.
I graduated from San Diego State College in 1958, and then several years later, I completed my Masters in Health Education and History. Besides teaching in the San Diego public schools for thirty-three years, I also had the rewarding experience of teaching psychology with the San Diego Adult College for twenty years (1977–1997).
In my first story, We Live in a Jungle, I used animals that performed and communicated like people. And like Homo sapiens, my characters have qualities and personality defects. As the story unfolds, the Rabbit and the Turtle, by outgrowing their shortcomings, become true friends.
At the beginning of the story, the Rabbit and Turtle are the odd couple. In a number of ways, they are complete opposites of each other. But somewhere within the story, they learn and grow, developing a true friendship.
Learning how to be a friend fills a prominent part in all of my stories. With the background of history and psychology, I am able to create stories about human nature and their challenges of becoming fully human.
I am a young man at the age of eighty-two. Because I am in good health, I am truly enjoying my golden years, spending quality time with my three sons and daughter. And the family circle grows. I have six grandchildren and a three-year-old great granddaughter.
And although we are blessed and surrounded by joy, like everyone family, we have day-by-day challenges. Within the family, we are challenged with autism and Alzheimer’s. Besides playing a joyful role with my growing family, my joy of writing stories is like the fountain of youth. As you know, when we truly enjoy what we do, it keeps us young and energized.
As for me, to start with an empty sheet of paper, and then eventually complete a story that brings joy to my readers is a dream come true. Had it not been for my self-doubts, I could have started my writing career at an earlier date. But that’s another story for another time. Enjoy.lihat lebih sedikit
