He is also a mentor of young and aspiring entrepreneurs. He is currently chairman of the Small and Medium Enterprise Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and the pioneer chairman of the Lagos State Sports Trust Fund (LSSTF).
Femi Pedro began his professional banking career at the Central Bank of Nigeria, before becoming one of the cofounders and seed investors at one of Africa’s pioneer banks—Guaranty Trust Bank (GT Bank)—at the age of thirty-two. Within ten years, he became the managing director of First Atlantic Bank (FinBank) after acquiring the bank with a consortium of investors in 1998. He served as managing director of the bank until 2003, when he was elected to serve as the deputy governor of Lagos State—Nigeria’s commercial capital and Africa’s largest city-state.
In his years as the deputy governor of Lagos State, Femi Pedro worked alongside Governor Bola Tinubu to embark on an unprecedented and aggressive revenue drive by restructuring, reorganizing, and reengineering the entire revenue-generating mechanism of Lagos State. His wealth of experience in the banking sector as a leader, entrepreneur, and investor came to fruition as he copiloted the transformation of Lagos State. In his time in office, the foundation was laid for the ongoing economic evolution being witnessed in Lagos today.
Femi Pedro serves on the boards of various business ventures and has substantial investments in banking, real estate, information technology, manufacturing, and the hotel and hospitality sectors. An avid and passionate golfer, he is happily married to Honorable Justice Jumoke Pedro. Their union is blessed with children and grandchildren.lihat lebih sedikit
