Service started in 1983 as a lecturer in the Chittagong University. He also worked as an assistant professor in the same university before coming in the UK for higher study as a commonwealth scholar. He completed his MPhil degree from LSE, London, and PhD from LITR, London. He worked as principal in the United College London.
