He grew up on a farm and attended high school in Clarkton, Missouri. While in high school, he took an electronics instrumentation and control course with DeVry Tech of Chicago, Illinois.
He went to college at Missouri School of Mines in Rolla, Missouri, in electrical engineering. College was interrupted by a tour in the Naval Aviation Flight Training Schools located in Florida.
After leaving the navy, he studied heating and air conditioning with Worthington Air Conditioning Company and Carrier Air Conditioning Company and finished a business management course of study with Missouri University in St. Louis.
His marriage produced two wonderful children, Cameron and Sharel, who are the joy of his life.
He started a construction business in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and did great business until a divorce bankrupted him.
